JUST a point first of all on repeats.
Everyone seems to have a moan about them, yet this week a repeat made my night. So praise to ITV2 and the like for ignoring the complaints and replaying some of the best of what’s on the box.
Last night I watched a repeat of Tuesday’s Trinny and Susannah Undress the Nation, having missed it earlier this week. It was probably the best in the series so far.
For all their faults, in the form of insults that we are so used to hearing from the queens of fashion, this time they have really got it right.
At the start we were told that 45 per cent of women in the UK who are a size 16 or above often feel poorly served by the fashion industry. Donning fat suits, the pair took to the high street to try to find something fashionable they could fit into. It was an eye-opening task.
Not only were shops lacking larger sizes, but when they did have the plus sizes they were faced with a choice of frumpy, poorly-fitting outfits or scaled-up versions of a size 10 garment which rarely suit anyone larger.
With the help of fashion designers they came up with alternatives, which made plus size ladies all look absolutely fabulous.
Of late, Trinny and Susannah haveseemed to be drowning in newcomer Gok Wan’s wake. But with this show they have really upped their game.
