RAIL operator Northern has announced the date it plans to re-open the Furness Line.

A spoeksperson from Northern said: "Following extensive works by multiple teams within the industry we plan to re-open the line on Monday!

"Works are almost complete in repairing the railway and well running some test trains over the weekend to make sure the line is ready for Monday morning.

"Thanks for everyone's patience and all those who have worked around the clock to get things ready for opening on Monday."

April 22 will mark exactly a month since a Northern train derailed on the approach to Grange station.

Network Rail engineers have said that removing the train and repairing the line after was a 'complex' operation.

Since the train derailed Northern has operated a replacement bus service from Lancaster to Barrow
