Local issues on agenda at Wyre meeting

A programme of new and refurbished primary schools, plans to ensure adequate childcare provision, public transport and climate-change grants will be discussed when Wyre Lancashire Local meets on Wednesday 30 July.

The committee unite members of Lancashire County Council and Wyre Council in ensuring that services are tailored to local need. Meetings are open to the public.

Other items will include loan assistance to Wyre companies, the area’s care and Repair programme and possible allocations of cash to improve Wyre’s highways.

County Councillor John Shedwick, Wyre Lancashire Local chair, said: “Between them, the county council and Wyre Council spend tens of millio! ns of pounds in Wyre. The idea of Lancashire Local is to ensure that both councils work together.

“Improvements to schools is a long-term aim – but one that should interest every parent in the area.

“Childcare and public transport are also vital for thousands of residents.”

Climate-change grant applications for a total of £27,000 will also be considered from three local organisations.

Lancashire Local grant applications on behalf of local groups will also be made by County Councillor Clive Grunshaw and County Councillor Valerie Wilson.

The meeting starts at 7pm and will be held in Scorton Village Hall.
