A 20-year-old Bispham man who set fire to a community centre has been jailed.
Preston Crown Court was told that £35,000 worth of damage was done to Bispham Community Centre last August, and Daniel King's DNA was found on a lighter.
King, of Fitzroy Road, Bispham, admitted arson and was sentenced to 12 months at a Young Offenders' Institution.
The court heard after the lighter was found King made full and frank admissions.
He told police he had been messing around with a friend.
An aerosol had been used and a curtain caught fire.
He agreed with a police officer that what happened was "not the brightest thing in the world to do".
Mr Frazer Livesey, defending, said King was shocked when the fire started. Judge Anthony Russell QC told King he had admitted to a serious offence.
"The custody threshold has been crossed and it is not possible to draw back from that," said the judge.
