Fylde have re-appointed lock forward Roger Banks as skipper for the forthcoming season.

The Lancashire County player led the Woodlands club in the second half of last season following Paul Newton's departure.

Former English Counties scrum-half Craig Aikman is vice-captain. Aikman joined Fylde in January and made a significant impact on the club's fortunes.

Director of Rugby Mark Nelson said: "Roger Banks and Craig Aikman are an ideal combination to lead the 1st team, on and off the pitch - a forward in the midst of the action and a back in the crucial 9 position.

"Banks is a talented, hard-working and honest forward who is proving himself at representative level.

"Aikman is also a class player with lots of experience at N1 and N2 levels. And they're both good communicators."

The Fylde Senior Squad began pre-season training this week.

Some 40 players took part in the first session on Monday evening at the Woodlands.
